Six Steps To Finding A Good Clearing For Camping

It's always a good time to camp as long as you have all the essentials with you. But most importantly, you have to find the right area to set up camp and pitch your tents.

You can't just pitch a tent anywhere unless it's an emergency and it's really dark out. So before the sun sets, make sure that you have found the perfect spot and then you can carry on with the fun. And just how do you do this? Here are a few steps to finding the best camping space.

• Consider space – You need to find a place that is large enough for you and for those who are with you if you are not camping alone. Space is always the first thing you should think of in terms of ground area.

• Consider water supply – If you are not bringing your own drinking water and you expect that you want to bathe everyday in the wild, then find a place that is nearby a stream or a river. However, it is essential that you find a place that does not slope.

This means that if it rains, make sure that you are not at a spot where the area might flood or your stuff washed into the river by strong winds and rain. When you find a place next to the water, think of where the water is coming from and think about boiling the water first if you want to drink it.

• Find a clearing – When pitching tents, you don't want them to be under pine cone trees for two reasons: the pinecones can fall all night and keep you awake; and anything that falls on your tent might just damage it and render it unusable. What you want to find is a clearing where you can pitch a tent under the stars. Of course, you should still be surrounded by trees in case that you need wood for cooking or for your camp fire.

• Sleeping area – Want to sleep comfortably? Find a place that has a lot of grass to make the ground soft. Make sure that it's not too moist on the ground and also do not camp in a place with long grass where snakes and all sorts of insects might dwell. Make sure your clearing is not filled with jagged rocks and roots that you can't pull out of the ground to make the ground flat.

• Parking space – This is for anyone who is going camping with an RV. You can't park your RV somewhere in the woods and then pitch a tent in another part of the woods. Next time you go out camping with your family in an RV, make sure there is space for your vehicle and outside of it. This way you can enjoy the best of both the indoors and outdoors.

• Cooking space – Usually, people cook their stuff with the camp fire in the middle of all the pitched tents. But if you want to keep your cooking separate, you will need to find a clearing that is separate and also away from the trees so that you don't cause an unfortunate accident. Make sure there is no dry wood or grass around the area where you cook as well.
