Camping is a great activity for family and for friends. People can get easily excited at the notion of going camping for a week or more. However, in the excitement of packing up and getting ready for camping, there are some people who forget to pack certain things that they need and they realize this only at the camp site. Remember to take your time when you are packing for a camping trip. Here is a list of the little things that you might forget when you go camping for the summer. • Flashlight – You will be quite surprised just how forgetful you are when you don't bring a flashlight. There is no way that you will be able to go around nearby woods by the light of the campfire alone. Bring a flashlight just in case you need to go to the woods to answer the call of nature or if you need to gather more wood for your fire. • Complete first-aid – Sure you may have brought some bandages and some alcohol with you; but this is nothing compared to bringing a whole first-aid kit to the campsite. This is easily one of the few things that people forget to bring. You need to bring a complete first-aid kit that should have bandages, alcohol, antiseptics, aspirin, sterile wipe napkins, tweezers, scissors, a knife, suntan lotion, sunburn relief lotion, diarrhea medicine and other medications that you need to take on a daily basis. Now that is a complete kit and there is a huge chance that without this list, you will forget to bring more than 80% of the items. • Extra cloths – Have you ever gone camping, pitched a tent and found that the ground was wet when you lay on it at night? This is a common thing and the only way to get around it is to bring an extra cloth large enough to cover the base of your tent. It should be laid on the ground before you pitch your tent so that it can absorb any moisture from the grass or ground below. • Charcoal – You might not find enough wood to actually cook anything in the woods. Also, if you are going to slow-cook anything, you need heat that lasts for a long time. Make sure that you bring your own charcoal the next time that you go camping so that you don't need to waste time looking for wood around the immediate area. • Clean drinking water – It's actually okay to drink water from nearby streams or rivers. The problem is that you will never know just where that water is flowing from and if it's contaminated or not. Contaminated water can end up with you getting sick and not being able to enjoy your trip at all. Make sure that you bring enough clean drinking water with you and leave the stream or river water as a last resort. • Clean socks – What you need is a change of socks everyday you are out camping. You can sweat in socks and even damage them easily just by hiking all day. Make sure you always have a clean and dry pair for each day that you are out camping. This way, you will be able to also prevent blisters on your feet. |
