Five Things To Consider When Buying A Tent

Campers use tents to serve as their shelter for the night. They also use this as a storage space for their camping supplies. So in case you are going camping for the first and still dosn't have a tent, here some things you should look for.

1. Size. It is important for you to consider this because the prices of each tent will vary according to how small or big it is. For you to be able to decide on the size, you should also be aware of the number of people who are going to stay inside the tent. Remember that the tent will serve as your room in the outdoors so in case you are going to share it with two or more people, then it should be big enough to accommodate all of you along with the extra space so you can move around.

2. Materials. It is only natural to look for a tent that is made to survive the harsh environment. Keep in mind that Mother Nature is unpredictable so when you are going to buy a tent, go for something that is made of high-quality and water resistant materials.

It is important to buy a tent that is resistant because the tent will not only serve as a room for the night but it will also serve as your protection from the rain and the harsh winds. In addition to that, a tent made of high quality materials will surely last long. Plus, you will be able to use it more rather than buying those made of substandard materials because the possibility of it breaking down is very high.

3. Water-Protection and Wind Resistance. Of course, you wouldn't want to wake up in the middle of a rainy night simply because water has seeped through your tent. Water inside the tent can be very uncomfortable and inconvenient and not only that, you are also risking soaking your other camping gears.

The tent that you buy should be able to keep you dry no matter what the weather is. So, take note of the fabric. It should be water resistant; the seams it should be intact and leak resistant so that water won't be able to seep through it. The floor of course should also be water resistant and lastly the frame should be sturdy enough to stand against strong winds. Remember that it is best to be prepared because as mentioned Mother Nature is hard to predict.

4. Ventilation System. A good tent should have a good ventilation system. This system will allow a free flow of air inside and outside of the tent. You wouldn't want to stay inside it breathing in and out the same air now, do you? For the ventilation system, tents use mesh like materials because it allows air to flow freely along with the fact that it keeps the pests out from the tent.

5. Additional Features. The additional features in tents are a big bonus simply because these features are designed to improve the tent's quality. These features include aluminum poles which are stronger and sturdier than fiber glass poles; tub flooring meaning the edges of the floor are raised about an inch or two higher before the tent walls are attached as this keeps the risk of water seeping in at minimum; roof vent (although not all tents have this) will serve as an additional ventilation system which allows air to circulate and lastly, a rainfly that serve as your tent's umbrella. You usually attach this on top of the tent to keep it from getting wet since tent walls are usually water repellant rather than waterproof. Keep in mind that the rainfly should not only cover the top but the sides as well.

When camping, it is always best to be prepared. Since the tent will serve as your house when you go camping, it is best that you take a good amount of time when shopping for one and do not forget the things you should look for in a good tent.
