One of the more favorite activities that families prefer to participate and be a part of is camping. This is because more and more families discover that there is more to camping than just sleeping out of doors. For one, camping enables you to commute with nature and see all of its wonderful and amazing facets up close and personal without technology getting in the way. Two, camping allows mom and dad to spend more bonding moments with their kids. Parents can get the lowdown and get up to date with their children or teenager's lives. Spend the evening making your kids feel important by listening to their dozen stories from school or experiences with their friends and perhaps giving in some good parental advice or two, as you share a hotdog and marshmallow in front of a cozy camp fire. And third, camping is a good opportunity for your kids to be independent and self-reliant. As these goals make camping sound perfect for a good family bonding time, sometimes the event can get messed up when parents realize that they are missing one or two of the few important items that can cause children or parents to get irritated and upset; unfortunately ruining a good camping day. Here is a list of those seemingly trivial things that you should never, ever forget. * Sunscreen. You take sunscreen when you go to the beach to avoid getting baked under the warm and sunny sky as you lie on the sand or frolic in the water all throughout the day. And just because you think camping means you will be going through the woods, where there are lots of trees, does not mean that you cannot get sunburn from your trip just like when you do at the beach. This is to say that yes, you can get as much. Camping means being out of doors all day. No house or roof to shelter you from the sun. When in the beach you may have your umbrellas or cabanas, in camping you mostly have your hat on to give you sun protection. So take heed. Unless you want to get burns all over you, do not forget to bring that bottle of sunscreen with you. * Insect repellant. When you are outdoors and inside a woody forest, there are bound to be lots of insects crawling about. As your house protects you from letting those flies and mosquitoes come into contact outside, an insect repellant is probably your only line of defense against their tender bites. Every parent should remember to bring insect repellants and make sure that their children apply an ample amount. Some bites can be deadly so it is really and always better to be safe than sorry. * Extra batteries. Sure you have your flashlights with you to guide you through the dark. But what happens when they run out of power? It would be difficult to continue trudging on not knowing or not seeing where you are going, even if it is a mapped out trail. Most children are afraid of the dark and can get all fidgety and may scream out of fear. It is a must to always keep an extra pack of batteries with you, just in case. |
