A lot of people believe that parents and their children are able to bond more closely after spending hours away from the intricacies of computers and the newest technology to simply take pleasure in their time together in the great outdoors enjoying their togetherness at an unhurried and leisurely pace within the presence of nature. Camping generally excites a lot of children as the mere mention of the word would bring out pictures of “wilderness,” “a chance to explore,” “adventure” and for some starry-eyed coming of age teenagers “an idealistic occasion to sleep under the stars.” However, camping is not to be considered as a nonchalant event especially if there are children involved. As much as camping brings about visions of adventure, it could also very much bring in danger to you and to your little tikes as well if you are not careful and well planned about your days out of doors. Thus it is imperative than when you do go camping, you would have had prepared yourself and your kids for the activity ahead. And this means, first and foremost, getting good camping gear. If you went camping without the necessary gear, you could have been a soldier who went to battle without arms. And that would put you in more risk of danger than you think. Here is a basic list of the camping gear that you will need for your great outdoor spree with the family. * Food and water. After all that hiking through the woods, your youngsters will surely be asking for some nourishment. Remember, there are no restaurants, fast food chains or food carts in the camping sites or in the wilderness where you and your children will be. So you should be able to pack in enough food and water that will provide sustenance to your little army. Also, inform them that food should last until your camping trip ends so it is important to not waste them. Just get what they need and save the rest for later. No binge eating. * Sleeping bags. In lieu of the good old comfortable bed you have at home, a durable and soft sleeping bag will do when you are camping in the outdoors. Just like your bed, sleeping bags usually come in rectangular shape and should be big enough to accommodate you. Nowadays, there are double sized sleeping bags available. These large bags are big enough to accommodate two young kids and even some can make room for parents. It is advisable to get these kinds of bags when you are camping with little children as parents are able to sleep more soundly when they know their children are just within reach. * Sleeping tents. Tents are your home in the outdoors. It shields you from the strong rays of the sun, from the splitter splatter of raindrops, from sandy winds and from insects that are likely to bite and keep you from getting a good night's sleep when in the outdoors. A good tent would be one that provides enough room. You should not be cramping to fit inside. There are big ones that can hold you and your family. Get those. |
